RTR Lead Management Accountant
Location - Birmingham, UK



Purpose of the Role

The Lead Management Accountant has operational responsibility for all the
Record to Report (RTR) service delivery activities conducted on behalf of 
the client. The role is responsible for ensuring that consulting service to
the company's client is delivered in line with the contract and the agreed
SLAs. The Lead Management Accountant is accountable for customer
satisfaction within the Business Accounting environment and acts as an
escalation point for problem resolution. The role is responsible for
providing leadership and direction to the company staff working on the
contract on shore and supporting the RTR operations offshore, ensuring that
the resourcing and capability is appropriate for delivering a high quality
FC&A service to the client.  The role will also support the operational
start up of new FC&A transition activities within the onshore team and
provide support and liaison to the offshore RTR Lead.
Responsible to deal will the carry out of a programme of system
transformation and operational transition in line with the Programme
outlined in the contract. The position will be offered the opportunity to
join company as a full time direct consultant at the end of the contract
term, at approximately 2 years.


General Responsibilities

 Accountabilities

RTR Account Manager for existing contract in Birmingham with the
responsibility for operational management of outsourced Business Accounting
activities.
Part of multi-tower leadership team (encompassing HR, Transformation and
Transition) responsible for the management of the contract through to
completion.
Management of circa 25 onshore staff increasing to circa 65 staff, and close
liaison with approximately 100 offshore staff providing outsourced
accounting services.
Working within the framework of the company's Service Management Operating
Model.
Functional responsibility encompassing intercompany, fixed assets, general
ledger and statutory accounts. Provision of management reports and
analytical support to client's Business Finance Managers including financial
analysis, planning and management accounting across all the business groups.
Supporting the FC&A Service Delivery Lead in the review of resourcing,
career development and compensation activities. Responsible for driving
staff satisfaction and morale, ensuring regular and open staff
communications.  Reports to the FC&A Service Delivery Lead Businesses within
scope currently include:

-       Developments
-       Private Finance
-       Building & CTS
-       Health, Services & AMBS
-       Rail
-       SkyBlue
-       Roads & Highways

The Businesses in scope will increase in line with the contract , scope 2009
to 2011.
Serve as part of the extended management team for the Delivery Centre
Coordinate and promote effective onshore-offshore team working, where
appropriate
Meet/exceed target service deliverables
Meet/exceed Delivery Centre Operating Unit Plan
Secure and develop long term relationship with client
Maintain low attrition rates, and support the recruitment and retention and
development of quality staff
Introduce continuous improvement on service delivery


Qualifications: Minimum Skills , Experience, Requirements & Qualifications


Degree, Bachelors/4-Yr. University , relevant
6 or more years of operations delivery experience in finance outsourcing
with experience at a management level
Qualified accountant
Excellent knowledge of financial and management accounting
Good knowledge of  ERP and finance related tools eg Hyperion
Flexibility required to interact with and manage a broad range of customers
and competing priorities
Excellent presence, interpersonal skills able to handle confidently
potential client presentations
Willingness to travel and potentially to offshore locations
Ability to deliver through operational  excellence
