Bulk Chemicals - Industrial Gases - Packaging

KEY JOB DUTIES:
. Manage strategic raw material (bulk chemical) and packaging spending of up
to $80M annually.
. Category expert for packaging applications in North America.
. Work closely with North American plants and Business Units as a member of
their sourcing teams participating in development and implementation of
plans.
. Maintain excellent relationships with the company's Business Units and
plants to ensure alignment of objectives and goals.
. Providing expertise in the packaging, chemical and tolling marketplace.
. Provide purchasing leadership to business and manufacturing teams.
. Manage price changes, volume commitments, termination decisions and other
contractual obligations.
. Manage supplier relationships through frequent contacts and formal
assessments to maintain a competitive, innovative and reliable supply base
. Develop packaging specifications to meet Business Units needs and optimize
costs.
. Develop and disseminate market knowledge to facilitate business decisions.
. Perform financial analysis related to sourcing decisions and supplier
management.
. Provide innovative solutions to improve performance and optimize costs to
ensure & maintain a competitive advantage.
. Primarily NAFTA based purchases but may participate on or lead global
sourcing team effort on selected categories.
. Interface with logistics group in the area of specifications development
and regulations (DOT and UN) related to packaging.


Qualifications:

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:


. Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials or Polymer Engineering
preferred.
. Minimum 8 years of strategic sourcing experience of bulk chemicals along
with 5 years experience in packaging required.
. Strong, results oriented Contract Negotiation Skills. Experience with
complex contract elements.
. Knowledgeable in DOT and UN regulations regarding packaging, labeling and
hazardous materials.
. Demonstrated ability to achieve sustained cost improvements.
. Results oriented with ability and experience to influence and make
decisive decisions among peers.
. Experience working in a plant environment is a plus.
. Experience working in a global organization is preferred
. Strong business/financial acumen.
. Excellent communication and interaction skills required.
. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, SAP
and internet resources.
