Job Title: GIS Analyst / Technican

GIS Analyst / Technican
Prepare reports and develop custom functions to allow users to efficiently use the GIS data.
Coordinate the continuous development, operation and maintenance of the GIS, including components of the system
database, system software, and system design. Analyze component layers and structure of spatial GIS data, and
implement plans to acquire exchange, share and integrate digital data.
Assist in the technical development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS); performs research, analysis, design,
creation and maintenance of new models for use in the GIS; resolves operational problems and assists in training
users in the department. Compile, integrate and update client, state, federal and other data in the GIS database.
Assess database functionality, protocols, peripherals and security; identify, locate and resolve problems; evaluate trends,
anticipate problems, and develop procedures to reduce system errors and enhance functionality and stability.
Assure that GIS projects meet objectives; analyze progress of GIS projects; recommend and coordinate corrective actions;
and report on performance and status of GIS projects. Perform other related activities and special projects.
BS in MIS, IT, Geography, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and 10+ years working in GIS technical field application
development, database and system design, data conversion, and analysis; or equivalent education and experience.
Additional GIS certificate from accredited institution and/or proficiency in any one or more programming languages such
as C#, C++, Java, XML, or Avenue. Knowledgeable of GIS software and technology. Understands the basics of CAD
and related office software.
